چکیده

Background. Acute ischemia is known to produce more severe electrophysiological disturbances in canine ventricular epicardium than endocardium, although the mechanism for the differential sensitivity is still unresolved. Recent studies have demonstrated the presence of a prominent transient outward current (It.) in ventricular epicardium but not endocardium. The present study was designed to test the hypothesis that the differential sensitivity of these two tissues to ischemia results, at least in part, from

Smooth muscle cells of seminal vesicle exhibit excitatcry junction patential on nerve stimulation and can fire evoked) action potential (1). However) the type of ion channels that underlie this electrical activity have not been described. I have investigated the type and pharmacology of ion channel in freshly isolated smooth muscle cells from the guinea-pig seminal vesicle using whole-cell patc...

Characterization of a transient outward K1 current with inward rectification in canine ventricular myocytes

Li, Gui-Rong, Haiying Sun, and Stanley Nattel. Characterization of a transient outward K1 current with inward rectification in canine ventricular myocytes. Am. J. Physiol. 274 (Cell Physiol. 43): C577–C585, 1998.—The threshold potential for the classical depolarization-activated transient outward K1 current and Cl2 current is positive to 230 mV. With the whole cell patch technique, a transient ...

Characterization of a transient outward K+ current with inward rectification in canine ventricular myocytes.

The threshold potential for the classical depolarization-activated transient outward K+ current and Cl- current is positive to -30 mV. With the whole cell patch technique, a transient outward current was elicited in the presence of 5 mM 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) and 5 μM ryanodine at voltages positive to the K+ equilibrium potential in canine ventricular myocytes. The current was abolished by 200 ...

Potassium Currents in Isolated Deiters' Cells of Guinea Pig

Deiters' cells are the supporting cells in organ of Corti and are suggested to play an important role in biochemical and mechanical modulation of outer hair cells. We successfully isolated functionally different K(+) currents from Deiters' cells of guinea pig using whole cell patch clamp technique. With high K(+) pipette solution, depolarizing step pulses activated strongly outward rectifying c...

Adrenergic modulation of the transient outward current in isolated canine Purkinje cells.

Single canine Purkinje cells were voltage clamped under Ca2+-free conditions using the patch pipette. Depolarizing pulses from a holding potential of -42 mV induced a time-dependent rapidly activating-slowly inactivating outward current, which was identified as the transient outward current. The current showed two exponential time constants of inactivation (48,352 msec at +58 mV and 53,325 msec...

Characteristics of transient outward current in human ventricular myocytes from patients with terminal heart failure.

A variety of outward currents exists in ventricular myocardium of different species influencing action potential duration and electrical activity. Transient outward currents have been reported in ventricular tissue of some animals but are small or absent in others. This study was conducted to investigate whether a transient outward current exists in human ventricular myocardium and to character...
